The very type I'm interested in -- intellectual, unassuming, endearingly awkward -- is the very kind of guy that's

a) not interested in a girlfriend b) difficult to get to know c) difficult to talk to

because he's

a) absorbed in he's studies b) oblivious to the fact that I like him c) already has his life planned out and, essentially, does not need anyone -- especially me -- to fulfill his happiness for him..

which makes him so attractive in the first place..

..I always have to like the difficult ones, don't I?
